One of the most common questions a photographer will get is “What should I wear for my photos?” To put it simply, wear what makes you feel good or portrays your personality! We as photographers can only suggest what photographs well but it may not fit your style. That is ok, we won’t be upset if you don’t like our suggestions. Here are some things that may help you pick out your clothing for your photo session.
1) Stay away from logos! We get it, we all like name brands but we don’t want them plastered all over your son’s shirt or daughter’s dress. It takes away from the picture. Try to keep the logos small or non existent if possible.
2) Accessorize! Hats, scarfs, & jewelry can really make an outfit stand out. They are the finishing touches. If you are not a accessory person, it is ok but maybe walk on the wild side just once to see how it feels. I promise it will make your outfit look that much better!
3) Colors colors everywhere! I love color! Now don’t get me wrong. I love neutral colors too! The key is to find what fits the mood of your shoot and go with it! If you are looking for a fun vibrant shoot then I would suggest to go with complimentary colors. For example, if you decide to wear red, I may suggest for us to shoot somewhere that is green to make you pop more. Or if you wearing purple, I may suggest your children to wear green. If you are looking for a more relaxed setting, I may suggest for you to be dressed in more analogous colors to set the mood. You get the picture here. There are many color combos to go with, the issue is finding the one that is right for you!
4) When in doubt, bring lots of clothes with you! I have no problem helping you pick out the outfits! Trust me on this one! I had a photo shoot with a photographer I admire and the entire backseat of my car was filled with clothes and shoes ( no joke ). I let her help me pick out the clothing that I wore and my pictures came out beautiful!
